Muleshoe Acceleration and Collegiate Academy

The Muleshoe Acceleration and Collegiate Academy opened at Muleshoe High School in 2020. The progressively designed program helps students advance in higher education and become competitive in the workforce.

Muleshoe Acceleration and Collegiate Academy Goals

  • Increase graduation rates
  • Increase the number of students enrolled in dual credit courses
  • Provide a variety of dual credit courses
  • Lower student costs to enroll in dual credit courses
  • Increase the number of students who graduate with industry certifications
  • Prepare students for their next step upon graduation, whether it be a trade school, a 4-year college, or directly into the workforce.

The Muleshoe Acceleration aspect was created for students who have fallen behind or are missing certain graduation credits. This program provides the space, resources, and direct support for students who have found themselves off-track of their graduation plan.

The Collegiate Academy provides the opportunity for students to earn online dual credits by giving them the space, time, tools, and oversight they need to succeed. Students can choose from 62 online classes offered by South Plains College. A major benefit to this program is the cost savings for students to earn college course credits. Furthermore, Muleshoe ISD has established a reimbursement program for MHS Senior students who successfully pass their courses.

The Collegiate Academy is significant in shaping the development of Muleshoe’s workforce. With an objective to graduate students with both a high school diploma and an associate degree, the academy introduces one dual credit class at the freshman level.
